Activities/Attractions: Pahoa is a historic town, built between 1909 and 1919. It began as a mill town, shaping railway ties for the great western railways. In sugar cane days Pahoa became the crossroads for the railway.
Today’s industry is the diversified agriculture and tropical flower business. Pahoa is the closest town (5 minutes) and offers besides an alternative flair, several excellent restaurants, a grocery store, natural food store, health clinic, doctor’s offices, pharmacy, two banks, interesting arts & crafts shops and an open market on weekend mornings.

General Information: Our Hawaii B&B - "Hale Makamae" - is located in the beautiful and tropical area of Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii, 30 minutes from Hilo and the Volcanoes National Park. Our accommodations offers the ideal place to take some time out and experience the real Hawaii. Our home is a plantation style house nestled between palms and fruit trees in the Keahialaka Rain Forest. We invite you to stay with us and welcome you to enjoy the Aloha spirit of our home.
Our three beautiful guest accommodations, look out into our garden of flowers, fruit trees and tropical vegetation. All of our apartments offer separate entrances and private bathrooms. Their bright, airy and spacious ambience will make your stay pleasant and comfortable.

is located on the first floor with view and entrance into the
garden. With its queen-size bed, ceiling fan, private bathroom and
separate entrance it is a cozy room for one person or a couple

Suite's
entrance and living room are looking out into the garden. The Suite offers a
dining/living room area, a kitchenette, private bathroom and the separate
bedroom has a queen-size bed
- Lanai Suite,
located on the second floor,
offers two bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 5 persons (master bedroom:
queen-size bed; second bedroom: two single beds; living room: full-size futon
couch). The Suite has a dining/living room area, and a kitchenette with
refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and other kitchen
items, Satellite TV
Sleep peacefully in our large, spacious lodgings and relax in our beautiful gardens. Besides English, both of us speak German.
Payment Accepted: Traveler's Checks, Money Order or personal checks (US Bank) for your reservation. The remainder can be also paid in cash once you are here.
