Lasseters Landing is ideally located for day trips to lighthouses, historical sites, museums, aquarium, planetarium, estuary or any of the numerous local preserves and wildlife refuges. The 10 thousand acre Palmetto Peartree Preserve, home to the endangered Red-Cockaded Woodpecker, is just 4 miles from our front door. In addition to the beautiful Scuppernong River, Tyrrell County is bordered on the north by the Albemarle Sound (one of the East Coast's largest estuarine systems), and to the east by the Alligator River (which is part of the Atlantic coast Intracoastal Waterway System). It goes without saying that water born activities are a major part of Columbia and Tyrrell County's heritage and present day way of life. Our area waterways provide opportunities for sailing, fishing, paddling, hunting, bird watching and many other recreational activities. "Dear Greg and Betty - it's been very nice meeting you. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Evening canoe trips are a must for everyone. The next canal was fabulous and provided an observation for wildlife - a huge osprey nest with the occupants watching us as much as we watched them, an alligator, and much more. This is a place that you can really relax after a work day - This sleepy little place reminds me of what it must have been like in San Fran in '49 upon the discovery of the first gold mine! It won't be a secret for long." "Lifted each morning by Ospreys, the undulating flight of the Pileated Woodpecker, Bald Eagle, red-throated Loon and acrobatic warblers wheezing in cypress trees, I've forgotten the daily grind of rush hour traffic and violent news. This place, suspended in its web of light and birdsong, is one of the best Easter services I've ever attended. I wouldn't change anything here - thank you for your sensitivity to the splendor of the natural universe!" "What a wonderful way to spend a "work week"! Though on business, I was able to enjoy the sunrises, sunsets and canoe while accomplishing my work goals and making some great new friends - my innkeepers! This is an un-discovered treasure." "What a delightful repose! We've traveled all over the world, but have never stayed anywhere as nice as this. Great views, great food, great fun! This is a good place to call home." "We spent 3 nights over the New Year. It was comfy, peaceful, beautiful sunrises & sunsets - great hospitality! - & all the necessary equipment! We'll make it an annual event!" "A lovely vacation made more so by the wonderful helpfulness of gracious hosts. Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions and for opening up to us the many wonders and attractions of Albemarle Sound. We had been planning our visit to the Centennial of Flight for years, but never imagined how much more we would enjoy." |
