Activities/Attractions: Rhododendron is on the Mount Hood Loop Highway... a ninety-mile paved signed loop around the southern slopes of Mount Hood and through the Hood River Valley to the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area. It was once a popular summer colony but with the increased popularity of skiing it has become a year-round community.
When the Columbia River Gorge drive is added from Hood River to Troutdale, the total mileage is 130 miles. Mount Hood dominates the Oregon skyline as a giant cylindrical white-topped cone. At 11,235 feet elevation, it is Oregon’s tallest mountain and a recreational area for all seasons, offering:

- hiking
- climbing during summer
- fall foliage
- skiing year-round

General Information: Welcome to Laughing Bear Cabin ... a picture-perfect historic log cabin nestled in the forests of the Cascade Mountains. It is ready for your cozy weekend getaway in the heart of Mt. Hood's year-round recreation area and it's an easy 47 mile drive east of Portland, Oregon, just over a mile off of scenic Highway 26. If you have been searching for a Mountain memory-making experience, you'll find it at Laughing Bear.
The cabin is a 1,300² ft. post and beam Steiner Log Cabin and has three bedrooms and 1½ baths. Fully furnished for your comforts and conveniences, it can accommodate up to 10 people.
