Activities/Attractions: In the heart of rural Lincolnshire, 19 miles south of Lincoln, lies Sleaford, a bustling market town with a long and varied history. In town visitors can browse in shops, both traditional and modern, selling a delightful variety of goods. Evening offers a relaxing choice of fine pubs and restaurants or a visit to the charming, newly-restored Playhouse.
The surrounding countryside is stacked with aviation history and Sleaford makes an ideal base for exploring the delights of "Bomber County".

There are many fine buildings including the splendid 13th century
church, St Denys', renowned for its wonderful stained glass and
traceried windows

spires in England and stands an impressive 144ft (44m) high

Denys’ also forms the backdrop to the market place where an
outdoor market is held every Monday, Friday and Saturday selling a
wide variety of goods and produce

The old Slea Navigation buildings in the wharf area of the town are
being developed and will include The Hub, new and exciting and the
largest space for contemporary craft and design outside London
- Follow the picturesque walk along the Slea Navigation to
Cogglesford Mill, a fully restored and working 18th century
watermill where milling has taken place for over a thousand years
Byards Leap is a 'jumbly' sort of place, with a Bubble
Car Museum right next door and the Viking Way long-distance
footpath on our doorstep. We are en-route for the East and Norfolk
Coastlines, but still have our very own local attractions for all
types of activities.

Byards Leap Country Kitchen has existed for over 100 years,
believed to be the site on which the hut sat where Old Meg the
witch lived. Although the Country Kitchen has kept its outward
appearance, over the years, many changes have been made to the
internal rooms, and, of course, the kitchen is now all stainless
steel with modern appliances.

The RAF Heritage centre is a good walk away or just a few minutes by car. Also at Byards Leap we are situated on the Viking long distance footpath, this is ideal for ramblers, walkers and nature lovers alike.

Both the Lodge and our Country Kitchen restaurant, which is licensed, go hand in hand with the famous legend of Byards Leap, of which the horseshoes from Bayard still remain here to this day. Although the Country Kitchen has been refurbished and is now over 100yrs old, we have strived to maintain the original atmosphere of those bygone days.
