Typically visitors either come for the mountains of the south, the beautiful countryside and history of the north, or the calm attractions of the Gers (Gascony) region in the centre of the region. The capital of the Midi-Pyrenees region is Toulouse, the attractive red-brick city to the north of the region. The southern part of the region is in the Pyrenees mountains, and it can be wild and dramatic, and is often very beautiful, with mountain passes, crashing rivers, and dramatic cliffs and scenery. The three departments in the mountainous Pyrenees, running east to west are Haute-Pyrenees, Haute-Garonne and Ariege. Winter in the Pyrenees is spectacular
with white mountains and often bright sunny days. The chalet is situated
in the middle of 4 very different ski resorts to satisfy all ability
levels from beginner to seasoned skier. "What an amazing welcome at Chalet le Chapeau Bleu. Great hosts, incredibly friendly and providing some amazing food. There were 8 of us on this trip and we stayed in 10 different accommodations, all of us agreed that Chalet Le Chapeau Bleu was the highlight of the tour. I will be returning." "Stayed here for four nights, toured the area on our motorbikes - Fantastic Roads. This accommodation is one of the best places we have ever stayed: the hosts, the food, the standard of rooms and the location, all just brilliant. Think very carefully about booking elsewhere. Rated 10/10." "We all had a great time, your hospitality was fantastic and we all plan to come again The rest of our group want to come next time. I will be recommending you to all the bike forums I go on and I will be writing in to MCN magazine to tell of our trip and encourage all bikers to stop with you." "I and two other friends, venture to Europe on our motorcycles looking for a special break with roads and relaxation to fill our dreams. Ron and Carole have filled this venture without doubt, they greet us with our first beer on arrival at the gate, and the hospitality just keeps coming. They can't do enough for the guests, advising and directing guests to make the most of their stay. The accommodation is outstanding and spotless, The food is top class. I wish to say a very big thank you on behalf of us all. I am taking my wife back in August for our anniversary, and booking again for next year for the boys next venture. Highest recommendation all round, you will not find better." "Fantastic accommodation, great hosts - check out the red pepper soup. Would highly recommend this accommodation." "Great stay, great value for money and very hospitable. The owners are particularly friendly and helpful and Ron is himself a biker so understands what to do when you arrive soaking wet after a sudden downpour!" "Could find nothing to fault this place. All very comfortable, easy to find, beautifully situated, unusually good food and superb hospitality from hosts Ron and Carole. Strongly recommended." |
"Carole and Ron were two fantastic hosts. They could not of been more accommodating. They made us feel part of their home. The food was amazing. The views from the house are breathtaking. It is an ideal location for skiers and non skiers alike. We would definitely go back again. Fantastic week." "Everything about it is exceptional!! The location is amazingly beautiful, with it's castle sat high along the mountain. The river gently passing through, giving a relaxed serenity. The rainbow of colour from the autumn trees, and the people with their genuine smiles and friendly natures. Ron & Carol both are wonderful people and amazing host, not to mention they're both fantastic cooks!!! Our room was sooooo comfortable, with everything you could want or need to enjoy yourself and relax. You'll NEVER find anywhere else that you'd enjoy more. Thanks Ron & Carol!" |

"On arrival we were greeted with cold beers and a very warm welcome, always a good start :-) The room was lovely and clean and the bathroom was great, a wet room shower that was a welcome sight after 6 hrs riding in the sweltering heat. Both my son and I felt so at home we were very tempted to stay another night before heading into Spain, but alas we couldn't. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending these great hosts to anyone, in fact I've already told some fellow bikers who having seen the pics etc said they'd stay there next time they're passing. All in all a great time was had and hope to see both Ron and Carole again sometime in the near future." "Wow. That's the word that comes to mind. It was so incredible I don't know where to begin. The area is beautiful and you can feel its history, well worth the visit, but it was Ron & Carole that made it an amazingly special honeymoon for us. The room/home was so comfortable, with everything you could want.. Make sure you dine there, these folks can cook!!! We will definitely be going back." "After descending the mountains in the pouring rain to have a warm welcome and a cold beer was brilliant. We where made most welcome and it felt like a home from home (only with better views). I would make the trip again just for another bowl of pepper/lime soup." |
