General Information: Chy is Cornish for "house"... Chy-an-Creet Hotel in St. Ives was built as a private residence by a close friend of Master Potter Bernard Leach in about 1923 and is a comfortable house with character and space away from - but within easy reach of - the town centre ... convenient for touring, walking, sightseeing in this area of outstanding natural beauty, or just relaxing.
Four Diamond Quality (AA & Visit Britain) Chy-an-Creet (now a non-smoking house) is open from Spring to October for holidays and short breaks.
- Each of our eight centrally heated en-suite guest rooms has a
complimentary beverage tray and colour television
- Double rooms have one double bed; Twin rooms have two
beds (usually both single); family rooms have one double and
(usually) one single bed
- The LICENSED BAR occupies the original Drawing
Room. It has a variety of refreshments including delicious J2O
fruit juices and cordials. The bar is open only to our guests and
their friends, hence the "private" hotel status. The
original fireplace has been brought back into use for a real fire
on cooler evenings. Come and toast your toes whether you wish to
drink or not
- The BREAKFAST ROOM is next to the bar, in the
extended west wing of the hotel, is where you'll probably start
your day if you haven't already been for a stroll on the golden
sandy beach in the early morning sun

The LOUNGE benefits from a recent extension which gives a quiet, light area in which to write, watch terrestrial wide-screen television or read. On the shelves, there are plenty of books to borrow while you're with us if you wish
For the comfort of our guests, Chy-an-Creet is now a non-smoking house: our only smoking area is the garden.
